- ― Dominic Zaitsev
The Meilynx Incident was an event Sicario was involved in prior to their contract in the Cascadian Conflict, under the codename Operation Red Current. It resolved a case of piracy involving a Pacific Federation cargo of secret cordium equipment.
Prelude[]
- "Hitman Team, you haven't gotten all that much airtime this deployment, so you're taking point with this operation."
- ― Arnold Frenken
The Burlok Privateers, a mercenary group which had turned to piracy, had seized the cargo ship Meilynx and detained it at their base of Fort Daggerpoint in the Jesta Island Chain. The ship was carrying cargo claimed to belong to the Federation Department of Global Energy and Sustainability. Negotiations to have the cargo returned were unsuccessful. Sicario, at the time on contract with the Creole Republic, was tasked with recovering or destroying the cargo.
Battle[]
- "This is Ronin Actual. Galaxy, we're moving in, our fast movers are in place?"
"Don't sweat it, Ronin, Hitman is cleaning them up now." - ― Ronin leader Captain Kelleher and Dominic Zaitsev
Hitman Team, assisted by other Sicario fighters, attacked Fort Daggerpoint and knocked down its defenses, allowing their SOG Ronin to seize the port in an airborne assault. Hitman also defeated mercenary fighters arriving to defend the island. When Ronin landed near the castle, the Burlok pirates scattered and presumably fled the island.
Scuttled cargo[]
- "Clean the scene, everything you witnessed is confidential by Federation decree, destroy it."
- ― Federation contact after being contacted by Zaitsev
Upon reaching the Meilynx, Ronin determined that the cargo was a large cordium containment chamber with enough cordium to power an airship for a year, impossible to move. Sicario's Federation contact subsequently ordered the destruction of the "confidential" cargo, which Hitman lead Monarch performed right after Ronin cleared the area. This triggered a large, unexpected explosion that blanketed a large portion of the island.
Aftermath[]
- "...haven't you heard? Civil war against the Federation, some rogue Cascadian ambassador has been island-hopping, dropping off contracts and information all day. The rebels need mercs and I need a job, Master Goose 1 out."
- ― Master Goose 1
Master Goose Squadron arrived under contract from the privateers, but Sicario had already concluded its operation. Declining to engage on behalf of a now-defunct employer, Master Goose left after announcing their intention to travel to Cascadia where new opportunities awaited. With their Creole contract paid out and no other work available in the region, Arnold Frenken took Sicario west to Cascadia as well.
The Federation covered up the incident, reporting officially that the Meilynx was lost with all hands after the Burlok Privateers mishandled cargo.[1]
