Following the Cascadian Conflict and the rogue Crimson 1's decimation of Presidia being blamed on the Pacific Federation, a global offensive was launched against them by Periphery nations with Cascadian backing. With a severely weakened military and having lost most of their Peacekeepers, the Federation was now on the defensive, not helped by its more nascent member states beginning to follow Cascadia's lead in secession, leaving the Core States in their weakest position since the formation of the Federation a century earlier.
Despite having recently suffered immense damage, Cascadia, with the world order severely shaken up, considered launching an overseas crusade against the Federation, having rallied the Periphery to itself and transformed into a mercenary haven, which included the newly formed Cascadian Foreign Legions.[1]
